Intel Math Kernel Library System Requirements

The Intel Math Kernel Library runs on Intel Architecture-based personal computers running the Microsoft* Windows* platforms. The BLAS and FFT routines and functions are callable from FORTRAN programs. The Math Kernel Library requires the following hardware and software:

  • Hardware
    • Intel Pentium® processor-based system (a Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium with MMX™ technology, or Pentium II processor-based system) or Intel486™ processor-based system
    • 16 megabytes RAM (32 megabytes RAM recommended)
  • Software
    • Microsoft Windows* NT* or Windows 95*
    • Intel FORTRAN 2.4 Compiler or
    • Digital Equipment Corp. Visual FORTRAN 5.0 or
    • Microsoft FORTRAN PowerStation* and PowerStation 32 compilers or
    • Watcom* FORTRAN 77 Compiler

The Math Kernel Library version 2.1 uses Win32* features and thus requires Windows NT or Windows 95. Multiprocessing is available only with Windows NT. The best performance can be achieved when applications using the library are run on the Pentium Pro or Pentium II processor.
